A Hat for a Tree

Our hats travel to customers all over the world, which inevitably causes a carbon footprint. To help compensate for this, we have teamed up with the Red Forestal Foundation to donate a portion of every sale to support their reforestation campaigns in key areas of Ecuador.

Red Forestal Foundation

The Red Forestal Foundation is a legally established non-profit organization based in Ecuador which has been carrying out reforestation projects in Ecuador since 2017. Their goal is to rebuild forests and ecosystems of native and endemic species which are vital for mitigating climate change as well as preserving Ecuador’s rich but endangered biodiversity.

You can learn more about the foundation and their projects on their website redforestal.org.

More than just planting a tree

A common misconception about reforestation is that it only takes planting a tree and letting it grow. But trees need more than sun and water to survive and thrive; they need the support of their whole ecosystem.

Reforestation projects often occur in places where these ecosystems have been completely destroyed, which is why the foundation carries out meticulous upkeep campaigns after the trees have been planted to rebuild the entire ecosystem and make sure they can become strong enough to survive.

Depending on where the trees are being planted, these follow-up efforts can be more or less intricate and can last longer or shorter periods of time. This is why it is difficult to establish a fixed price for donating or adopting a tree.

Our pledge is to donate a portion of all of our sales, both retail and wholesale, to the foundation’s efforts and allow them to determine which projects require the most support.
